SUMAN ROY
(1968 – 2012)
Suman Roy hailed from Kolkata and received his art education at Kala Bhavan, Santiniketan. As the son of the renowned painter Suhas Roy, Suman embarked on a journey to craft his own unique artistic style. His creative evolution led him from rural Bengal themes in his early career to abstract figuration, culminating in his distinct focus on portraying Christ in various moods and modes. In his often solitary artistic pursuits, Suman's compositions of Christ skillfully melded pain and pleasure, employing a vivid yet subtle palette.
Though characterized by its simplicity, Suman's art has graced numerous solo and group exhibitions in Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, and overseas. His works have also found a cherished place in various private and corporate art collections
